Photovoltaics

Photovoltaic cells conduct sunlight into electricity. Because of this simple fact, it is considered a renewable energy source. PV cells are easily integrated into various parts of a building, one of which is the roofing system. The south exposure of the roof at 1327 Magnolia is the chosen location to incorporate the PV cells. These cells generate approximately 5-10 watts of power per square foot of collector area in full sunlight (which means that approximately 100 to 200 square feet of collector area is needed per kilowatt of capacity). The layout of the cells is shown below:
