Low-Flow Water Fixtures
Drinking-quality water is not free nor is it unlimited. In the United States alone, we currently withdraw over 300 billion gallons of fresh water per day from streams, reservoirs, and wells. This fresh water supply is drastically diminishing. Therefore, it is very important to incorporate as many high efficiency water and plumbing fixtures as possible in the construction of a green home. With the use of low flow fixtures, indoor water use can be reduced by 30 to 40 percent. The 1327 Magnolia project has decided to use high efficiency toilets, showers, and faucets. These include:
- Lavatory faucets that are less than or equal to 2.0 GPM (gallons per minute)
- Shower heads that are less than or equal to 2.0 GPM
- Toilets that are less than or equal to 1.3 GPF (gallons per flush)
