Soy-based Polyurethane Insulation
The 1327 Magnolia project team decided to insulate the home with a soy-based polyurethane
insulation from BioBased Systems. BioBased insulation is made from annually renewable soybean oil,
thus making it a more environmentally preferable product compared with other types of insulation
on the market. BioBased Insulation is noted for its ability to keep conditioned air inside and
unconditioned air outside. Therefore, the energy used to heat and cool the home will decrease,
reducing energy bills significantly.
BioBased Insulation is the healthy choice: creates a continuous air barrier around the home.
This allows the homeowner to block outside allergens such as mold and pollen from entering the
home.
BioBased Insulation is the comfortable choice: by expanding to 100 times its original size, the
insulation fills every void thus stopping air infiltration and exfiltration. This continuous barrier
and sealed thermal envelope, keeps inside air in and outside air out. This also reduces noise
pollution from entering the indoor environment.
BioBased Insulation is the energy efficient choice: creates an air tight seal which reduces the
amount of energy needed to heat and cool the home.
BioBased Insulation is the environmentally responsible choice: made from United States-grown
soybean oil. The soybean oil is considered an annually renewable resource.
BioBased Insulation is the durable choice: does not support mold growth and is not a food
source for insects or rodents. It maintains is structural integrity, remaining efficient and
effective throughout its life.
